What makes a great birth experience for YOU? I'm here to help you discover that, and work with you to make that a reality. Giving birth is loving, hard, important work! Deep inside you know, this is the very first moment of the very first day that you'll meet this child. They will be the most magnificent being you have ever seen and your life will never be the same. Everything you ever believed about yourself will be challenged to get to this moment. The truths and lies about what you can and can't do will be called to account and those verdicts will be engraved in you as part of the most transformative experience of your life. They will be carried forward into your parenthood. Yes, even the mother you will be is largely born here in this moment. Protect it. Use a doula.
"I’m always honored to witness the transformation of women as they give birth- to see a mother embrace how amazing she really is. As your doula, I’ll assist you and your partner in the work at hand and provide support from my knowledge and experience. I’ll follow you in your desires for labor and protect the atmosphere you’ve created. I believe the sacrament of birth belongs with the family. I welcome a conversation to determine how I can best support you in the choices ahead."

I wanted to let you know a little bit about me as we begin. I am a certified birth doula, Lamaze childbirth educator, and car seat technician. I’m also a wife, a mother of four, and a Texan. I’ve experienced cesarean birth, a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) of twins and homebirth. Through my journey into motherhood, the doula in me was also born. I am continuously training to serve women in pregnancy and labor support, and have been assisting births for 6 years. I am a member of DONA International and president of the local Rochester Doula Cooperative. In an earlier chapter of my life I was a technical writer and a microelectronic engineer, so I have a love of good scientific research, and can understand both the “medical model” and "midwifery model" of birth. But my favorite credential I have to offer is a deep love and respect for the transforming power of birth and what an amazing tool a woman’s own wisdom can be.
